I hold a SD card, 4 GB, with record system FAT32, that is not acknowledged when I insert it into the reader. I can format memory 2 GB or smaller to FAT32, but my laptop doesn't seem to sanction it.
Any thoughts?

It's probably formatted as NTFS...Joe
if you have HC card (high capacity)
it may not work near standard readers.
mine does not work on my Dell, but does within digital camera.
