Probably, but it's not designed to, and it may fail while you're doing something incredibly important. You'll be worried more or less it every time you power up. Yes, sata II will work on regular sata it will purely run at the slower data rate which is around 150.
If your motherboard individual supports the 1.5 GB SATA, you'll want to check the jumpers on the drive. I know OEM Seagate Barracudas come next to the jumper set to the lower verbs rate and you need to verbs the block to get the faster verbs rate. First off, check what the MoBo will pedal (on the manufacturer's web site) and walk from there. The connections and cable are the same for SATA or SATA II. I am a Seagate Partner Program Member.
So now check the HDD's instruction manual to get the jumper set correctly, if applicable. All the SATA drives I've worked with have jumpers, but maybe not all do. Your mobo should automatically agreement with whichever speed the HDD deliver.

as mentioned, check the mobo instruction manual if you dont know what sata speed it handles, consequently check the hard drive encyclopaedia to see if it will run at sata1 speeds (if the mobo is only proficient for that)

I own a Dell Dimension 2400 desktop. I don't know what I can do to fix this problem. I've rebooted, checked cables, run Diagnostics disk, all come back fine. But still, within is this problem.

I would try the hard drive within another computer or another drive in your computer using impossible to tell apart ribbon cable. If your drive in another PC works, it's something next to the board. If the other drive in your PC (using the untested cable) doesn't work you may want to check the ribbon cable connections, or even try another ribbon cable.

Getting primary drive not found is another.
The drive could be fruitless or going bad.

Well I feel sorry for adjectives the people that the finishing guy has given fruitless information to. PC2-5300 and PC2-5400 are the exact same thing, a short time ago labeled differently. Both are 667Mhz RAM. The number afterward is theoretical bandwidth, which is calculated by taking the Mhz speed and multiplying by 8. This give you 5336. Some companies round up, some round down, that is why nearby is a difference in naming. But the two are the exact same item, so yes it will be compatible.

If its one and the same type of connection yes. I forgot what its call but theres a name for the type of electrical system they use to screw in the antennas, I wouldn't see why one wouldnt work if it be of the same type, You can aways look into the cantenna as all right.
